How to Request an Appointment
At Streatham Common Practice there are two ways to book appointments.
Same day emergency appointments
If you feel you need an urgent appointment on the day, this can be accessed by calling the surgery to get an emergency appointment. Lines open at 8am Monday – Friday. You will speak to one of our team who is trained in assessing calls and directing patients to the most appropriate service (triaging). If the most appropriate outcome is to see or speak with a GP, then we book patients to see medical clinicians for either telephone or face to face consultations. If you would like a face to face, appointment then please ask when you speak to a receptionist.
When we are at capacity the receptionist will still support you with assessing symptoms and directing you to the most appropriate service. Reception are able to access the doctor who is on duty that day and seek medical advice about your case if this is appropriate.
We are also able to offer GP access Hub appointments and a referral to the local Pharmacy for a minor illness consultation.
Future appointments
Online
If the matter is not urgent and you feel it could wait until a later date, we book with clinicians in advance by filling out an online request on our website Streatham Common Practice. Please fill in as much detail as possible including your availability and if you would like to speak to a specific clinician.
Telephone
We are also able to prebook appointments for telephone results calls, Medication reviews, Pharmacist, Practice Nursing, and physiotherapy appointment
Telephone Consultations
Telephone consultations are available each day to speak to either a doctor or a nurse.
These consultations are useful for:
- Follow-up/results.
- Anything that we may be able to resolve/address without actually seeing you in person.
Nurse Appointments
All appointments can be booked in advance; we suggest you book 1-2 weeks before you require the appointment.
Phlebotomist Appointments
We have an in house phlebotomist, who mainly serves our elderly or infirm patients.
In cases where we are unable to provide this service due to long waiting times, alternative services are conducted at Gracefield Gardens Health and Social Care Centre, 2-8 Gracefield Gardens, London SW16 2ST.
All blood tests must have been authorised by a doctor or nurse, who will provide you with a blood test form.
Enhanced Access Appointments
We offer appointments at our surgery after 18.30 on Monday – Thursdays. We can also offer appointments in various hub clinics across Lambeth, provided by our GP Federation, Lambeth Practices.
As part of the PCN DES service, we are required to provide Enhanced Access to patients registered with practices in the PCN.
Enhanced Access is patient appointments outside core practice hours – that is between 18:30-20:00 on weekdays, and on Saturdays 09:00 till 17:00.
Interpreters
If you require an interpreting service for your consultations with the doctor or nurse, we will gladly arrange this for you.
Please tell us when you book an appointment.
Late Policy
The practice has agreed that if you are more than 10 minutes late we cannot see you and you will have to rebook.
This policy is intended to help doctors and nurses keep to time and reduce waiting times for all patients.
